Minimally Invasive Surgery with the DaVinci Robot

Here at General Surgeons of Western Colorado, we are proud to be partnered with St. Mary’s Hospital to offer robotic surgery with the Da Vinci surgical system.

Robotic-assisted surgery is a form of minimally invasive surgery, performed through a few small incisions. During robotic-assisted surgery, your surgeon controls the Da Vinci surgical system through a special console
in the room.

The Da Vinci robot is one of the most advanced robotic systems in use today. This state of the art technology provides a new and improved approach to traditional types of urological surgery.

Our surgeons here at GSWC provide robotic assisted surgery that can lead to less pain and time in the hospital. Some other benefits of robotic surgery include reduced chance of infection, faster recovery and less scarring.

The Da Vinci robot makes it possible for our surgeons to perform many general surgery procedures with the minimally invasive laparoscopic technique or robotic-assisted surgery. These procedures include:

Robotic Procedures:

  • Robotic Inguinal & Ventral Hernia's

  • Robotic Gastric Bypass & Sleeve

  • Robotic Colon Resection

  • Robotic Colostomy & Ileostomy Reversals

  • Robotic Cholecystectomy

  • Robotic Paraesophageal Hernia including Robotic LINX

In this video, Dr. Murray explains how the Da Vinci Robot allows surgeons to do very complex surgery in a minimally invasive fashion. Dr. Murray himself has completed well over 1,000 procedures with this technology.

Access anatomical locations

3D high-definition camera allows surgeons to see:

Precise Control

  • A crystal-clear and highly magnified view of your anatomy as he/she operates

  • Anatomy not normally visible to the human eye

  • The fine details of your surgery

The Da Vinci Robot operates in a steady manor, offering tremor control which further enhances the surgeon's ability to operate with precision using multiple small instruments

This technology allows surgeons to easily access anatomical locations that were previously difficult to reach by other approaches. These are locations that are hard to reach and are beyond the limits of the human hand.

Individual results may vary. There are risks associated with any surgical procedure. Talk with your doctor about these risks to find out if robotic surgery is right for you.
